No Turning Back
Dear Diary,
Just reached home… quite late already. I could either do up my roster now (pretty urgent) or type a blog entry… Obviously, I have chosen the latter. Haha… Today… or rather yesterday (since it is already past midnight), was a day of mood roller-coasters. Woke up early and then proceeded to give some lectures to some store and area managers. Kinda like giving lectures because I get to have the evenings off! Yay! Evenings are almost precious privileges in the retail world. Just about as “sacred” as the weekends, haha… However, subsequently later in the day… felt particularly down. Sometimes I don’t know why I as a guy, can be so vulnerable. It is very difficult to be a guy… Do you know that? However, I still want to be a guy, haha… Okay, a bit contradictory here. =P You will get it if you are a guy.
After the lectures, I popped by a pharmacy and spoke to a colleague for almost 2 hours. She was guessing why I looked a little glum… did my boss scold me? Blah blah… nothing of that sort lah, haha… if she ever scolded me, I don’t think I will feel that bad as today, keke… come to think of it, I am really blessed so far… haven’t really got a real reprimand from any superiors! =)
Thank God for such a nice colleague who, despite not knowing in detail what my problem or setback is, tried her best to cheer me up as I made used of her computer to do some admin stuff of mine, haha… She even popped by my pharmacy the day before and gave me a cheese mooncake and a durian one. Yummy! I love mooncakes. Anyway, I proceeded on to meet up with a long-standing university friend. Caught the cartoon movie “Ratatouille” by Pixar. Without exaggerating, it is possibly the best cartoon I ever watched in my life. Surpassing even “The Incredibles” which I thought so highly of. The “Ratatouille” cartoon made me laugh, made me feel mellow at times… the mix was just magical. I couldn’t recommend it more!!! It is a 5-star rating on my critique list.
I have to really thank God for the movie too… Made me feel so much better after watching it. Just hilarious and the rat is just so cute! =) Had dinner at the Pivdofr restaurant at Liang Seah Street. Ever went there on 2 occasions in my university days. The food still tasted delicious and affordable. Had a long chat with my classmate. You know something… Friendship is indeed a blessing from God. It can be just so amazingly invigorating to meet up with a good friend, to chat, to encourage and to strengthen.
Sitting on the bus home… I am beginning to be more aware how fortunate myself am. I have always focused on setbacks and disappointments… however, those periods when I was smiling widely… I should remember to give thanks! I am a guy who knows God as my personal Saviour. Surely I am made of sterner stuff! Okay, I am already feeling much better! =)
Hopefully, “Evans Almighty” will be a good watch tomorrow (or rather today, haha)! Looking forward also to dinner with two primary school classmates in a fortnight’s time. Never really talked to them since 1992. Looking for a nostalgic reunion. Hope I survive… two girls… kinda lost faith in myself in “handling” girls recently, haha… Okay, goodnight! ;-)
God Bless,
Andrew
