LRHG

Dear Diary,

Back home with a sore throat again. Well… not really complaining because I kinda enjoy teaching! ;-) Spent the whole day teaching some store managers on health topics like slimming products, analgesics, vitamins, minerals, complementary medicine and first aid. There is always that satisfaction when you can get the audience to be interested in what you speak! At some rare moments when I saw a couple of them dozing off… I tried to inject a more varied tone into my speech and tailored my expression to get them awake again, haha… Felt good when they overcame the “sleep” temptations, haha…

Yesterday evening, I managed to catch the movie blockbuster “The Bourne Ultimatum” starring Matt Damon. It was a thrilling show and action-packed all the way. Although the rhythmic thumping music kept me up at my seat in full anticipation, the shaky camera visuals made me a little “motion-sick”, haha… Nonetheless, it was a gripping storyline. Do catch it if you can. Have that impression I actually watched all of the three “Bourne” movies… Not too sure… hmmm… had late dinner at the Fish & Co (Glasshouse) since my friend never ate at Fish & Co! Haha… I drank some “Corona” Mexican beer for the first time too. One whole glass! Tasted not bad. Like that alfresco setting too… Taking a little alcohol once a while can be quite refreshing. =) Later, adjourned to eat the famous Rochor’s beancurd dessert. Cold and sweet! Yay… love the silken texture melt and slide down my throat! ;-)

Anyway, last Friday… 3 of my friends popped by into my pharmacy in succession! Kinda made my day! =) One was my student… or rather ex-student. She had those blushers on her cheeks. Pretty! Sometimes I wonder why all my female students look better after they left… Haha… One came back with skirts and now this one came back with blushers… Oh well, haha… After my student left, it was an army friend. Nice to see him around and chatted with him for a while. Then my university classmate came. Bought her lunch at KFC and the next day she had diarrhoea… errr…. Okay… I wasn’t affected though. =P

Talking about old friends… Dad just told me over dinner that he is attending a class reunion this coming Sunday! They did not have any reunion for close to 40 years!!!!! Basically, no reunion since they left the school! Wah… will I ever be a participant of a class reunion on the 40th anniversary? Incredible! Anyway, just set up a rival blog with another friend. Yes, a blog rivalling my own, hahaha… “Philbert” it will be. I chose the picture of Charlie Brown pondering, “It’s stupid to just sit here and admire the little red-haired girl from a distance.”

If you know the “Peanuts” comics, the late author Charles M. Shulz actually depicted himself as Charlie Brown. The little red-haired girl (LRHG) is an unseen character (who are never seen or heard by the audience and only described by other characters) in the comic strip and is a symbol of unrequited love. The LRHG has a name, Heather. She serves as the object of Charlie Brown's desire. He often notices her while eating lunch outdoors, and often tries to get up the courage to speak to her, but always in vain. Anything touched by her or associated with her is precious to him. For example, in one strip he finds her pencil dropped in the hallway, notices that it has been chewed and declares, "She's human!" Presumably, this common habit makes her seem more approachable, but, typically, he never follows through. Isn’t it sad? This LRHG is actually a real person known as Donna Johnson who declined Charles M. Shulz’s marriage proposal in the late 1940s.

Sometimes, can’t help feeling a little “Charlie Brown” in me… No point admiring the LRHG. Gotta do something about it even if it may mean losing her ultimately. Okay, gotta go and draw up rosters! Goodnight! ;-)

God Bless,

Andrew

Hi whoever-you-are,
the problem is that I am a confused guy.... wish I could be more decisive in this aspect of life, just like how I deal with my studies and work. Sigh... Saying is always easier. Doing is the hard part. It is worse when you are not even sure. =( However, I will heed your advice! A good reminder. Thanks! ;-)
