While I am waiting for my hair to dry...
Dear Diary,
Back from work and waiting for my hair to dry after a good bath. Same old excuse to start typing a blog entry, hee… Tomorrow, a good old Saturday which most people will be slacking at home, is not too good for me. Hmmm… I have to bring my little student with me to a pharmacy branch in Raffles’ Place to do some stock-take. Intending to complete it real fast… yes, REAL SUPER FAST… and then we will head to another branch in a gigantic shopping centre for the remaining working hours. It always has to be me when there is no one else left. =( Oh well, seeing it positively… hee… at least, I can bring my student to check out some new branches at long last, haha…
I was pointing out a schizophrenic patient on some typical antipsychotics and a medication to prevent the extra-pyramidal effects (EPS) to my student. Asking her to observe some of the symptoms and manifestations. She confessed that she isn’t very interested in pharmacy actually… hmmm… I wasn’t too, haha… In fact, I wasn’t for a long time! However, I told her that many times in life we don’t really get everything we want… be it studies, career or even marriage! Life must still go on with whatever we have and we have to make the best out of them! Yay! Haha… =)
So for this current student, my objective is clear now… how do I make her leave the attachment more interested in the university course she is studying? A tall order but I am not intimidated as she claimed I would, haha… I am challenged to end it in my favour, haha… We will see. At least, my student asked the title of the novel which I am currently reading and said that she will try to get it. A fellow colleague (who was formerly a freshman in the orientation group which I led) insisted that I read that English-translated Portuguese novel “Veronika Decides to Die” by Paulo Coelho. She said that it is good… so far, seems like she is right. That novel traced a Slovenian lady who after a failed suicide, ended up in a mental asylum. It kinda described psychosis in a very lay-man and “human” way. Hope that will fire up my student’s interest a little, haha…
Oh yes! Anyway…. I watched “Transformers” with an ex-primary school classmate. We arrived at Cathay Building and could not get a movie ticket on a Wednesday evening!!! What’s going on? Haha… We rushed off to GV at Plaza Singapura, and eventually had to settle for a “good-gracious” 9.30pm movie time slot. Hmmm… however, we spent some 2 hours talking over dinner at the Fish & Co. restaurant in Glass House. The place was surprisingly crowded, quite unlike my university days then. The New York-style fish and chips there was a disappointment and so was the clam chowder soup which tasted more like potato carrot soup. Too diluted. However, it was nice chatting up with a friend and hear him talk about his life and his recent tour to the United States.
The restaurant was packed the brim and we were among the older people there. I am only 26 years old!!! There were constant outbursts of laughter and teasing. There was even some birthday song sang over at the Catholic Junior College students’ table, haha… It felt as if we were in some college canteen! =) Then dinner was over in more than an hour. We took a walk before proceeding to watch in a surprisingly packed cinema. Lots of commercials… I must catch “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” and that hilarious cartoon “Ratatouille”, haha… Then it was non-stop action from the visual spectacle on the cinema screen. How did the producers make such seamlessly immaculate computer generated imageries and graphics??? An incredible show. By the time it ended, it was 15 minutes past midnight. It was unfamiliar scenario for me to be out so late, so we flagged a cab and home sweet home! ;-)
Heard that someone is organising a TTSH pre-reg group (my class’ batch) reunion soon. Would be good to see how everyone’s getting on! Okay, that’s all for the night… and like all good composition or general paper (GP) essays… we must link it back to the first statement of the writing………. My hair is dry at last. Time to sleep! Haha… Goodnight.
God Bless,
Andrew
