Dying Blogs
Dear Diary,
Back at the coziness of my bedroom, curled in my huge director chair and typing this blog entry. Thank God for the invention of air-conditioning... we will need that as long as we live. Unlike maybe the blogs...? I haven't actually read blogs for ages but recently have been just clicking around. There are quite a number of blogs online and usually I get a little excited when the author is a Singaporean around my age, haha... basically in the 25 - 30 years old age bracket.
This age group of people is the main group of people who hopped onto the "weblog" bandwagon probably in the late 1990s to 2000s. To put it simply, we are the pioneering users. =) However, a check on the hyperlinks at the side of my blogs... most of them kinda abandoned their blogs. Left either to rot in history or some just got removed totally. I wondered how many of my friends caught on with Tweeter... I didn’t. Have we become the "has-been"?
I think there is a certain amount of privacy needed when you grow up. When I was much younger, many of us communicated through blogs... yes, even strangers' ones... those as far as Canada? If you look at the hyperlink "Neely's blog" at the side of my blog, well... she was once upon a theological seminary student, training to be a pastor in Quebec I think. I think I kinda got acquainted when she (or was it I who dropped a note in hers?) came and dropped a note in my blog. Yup, she is a Canadian Chinese. Yeah... so it was interesting to know that someone you don't know is even interested in reading your entries! Haha... However, when I grow older, I also tend to self-censor myself especially when it comes to workplace issues as it gets real sensitive with the powerful search engines broadcasting your rants.
Anyway, for "Neely"... I just saw her latest entry dated in mid October. She said that she wondered if there is even any reader on her blog now. I was a little tempted to drop a comment to say, "Hey, I am reading it now... but the last time was like more half a year ago, haha..." It is strange how a blog works. Previously, I was actually concerned about her life although I don't even know how she looks like! Then again, I think I am starting to grow out of this. It is part of the ageing process?
Even MSN messenger and Facebook aren't as interesting as they used to be. I am not chasing after Tweeter now... and my online networking progress is stagnating. Yes, I belong to the ICQ, IRC era. I still religiously write a “hand-written” diary daily since 1998. Always considered abandoning that habit but the inertia of tradition seems too great to be ignored. Maybe if I ever get famous, they will be worth a fortune for my descendants, hahahahaa...
Alright, just another rubbishy entry. Gotta read a little more of my project management textbook. Today's lesson which we did those complicated activity-on-arrows (AON) and activity-on-nodes (AON) was thoroughly challenging but I love it! ;-) Have a nice week ahead if there is any reader at all, hahaha... =P
God Bless,
Andrew
