A New Dawn

Dear Diary,

It has been a pretty long time since I added a blog entry. The last time was probably a half-hearted entry about 3 weeks ago. Today, I am on leave and typing this could be the only “leisurely” thing I am doing for today. I will be in full “mugging” mode the moment I post this entry. Do pray for me because I have a 3-hour examination tomorrow for my Masters and I haven’t been taking exams for ages! Not exactly super confident either. Studying and working have been pretty heavy a combination. Then throw in a relationship, woah... I am now incredibly busy but loving every moment of my existence too! ;-) Thank God that I know this very nice lass and will be cherishing all the memories with her as we continue our journey together in life. The milestones will be recorded faithfully too! ;-)

I once said that I would stop typing my blog the moment I get into my first relationship and it looks like the fulfilment is completed. The end of this blog seems at the horizon and personally I think our generation has kinda outgrown blogging. Anyone of my era using Twitter? I am totally not in touch with that new thing already. Facebook could be the very last, haha... Anyway, my resolution for this year is hence achieved quickly and decisively; much more conclusive and certain than the recent stock market surprise upturn. =P This relationship is new and in its infancy stage, but I am resolved to give my best to know this girl and let her know me well too. She is a very tall, young, good-natured, talented lady and I am so glad that I managed to win her heart. Hopefully, we can see it come to fruition in the future.

I have gone visiting many places which I haven’t been for ages including Peranakan museum, Asian Civilisation Museum, National Museum, Singapore Science Centre, Singapore Discovery Centre (Watched the 3-D Monsters vs Aliens at their iWERK theatre), fort canning hill, Mount Faber, East Coast Park for cycling, Iluma & Kallang Leisure Park for movies... etc. Guess what, owning a car is just impeccable! I am beginning to see the benefits of owning one. Not too late yet, haha...

As for my work, the early scare of the economic freefall and the H1N1 swine flu pandemic has kinda tapered off in Singapore.... so, that means I will have to start going for overseas business trips after a long hiatus. I turned down a Penang trip this coming weekend as I have my MBA classes. However, I am heading to Central and Southern Vietnam in August. Kinda looking forward to it and can’t wait to catch up with my Vietnamese counterparts. There may be a KL trip in August too but it hasn’t been confirmed, haha... Maybe I get to see my KL colleagues too.

Alright, I hope life is great at your side too! Quite sad to know that a Singaporean couple was convicted for sedition when in their fervency to spread the Christian gospel, they used the well-known anti-Catholic, anti-Islam Jack Chick tracts. We need to be discerning when we use materials for evangelism. Evangelism is best carried out when the Gospel can be brought forth to arouse the inquisitiveness of the listener in such a way that he asks you for the follow-up rather than you stuffing it down his throat. As for Jack Chick tracts, I once wrote a feedback through his website years ago, objecting the various inaccuracies he littered in his provocative messages. If I am not mistaken, Jack Chick who was a former Catholic priest who turned Fundamentalist, created his ministry with the primary objective of Catholic bashing. It is sad not because of his disagreement with Catholic teachings but the fact that he will go all out to discredit them even conjuring lies and deceptions. Evangelism is expected of us Christians but we must be responsible for our sharing. If we look into the Gospels and the epistles, we can see that Jesus and the apostles evangelised in a manner which touched the heart of many through love and deeds, rather than conversion through intellectual and spiritual arrogance.

God Bless,

Andrew
