I am 28
Dear Diary,
Waiting to watch the Korean drama “Stairway to Heaven” at 6pm. Since I got my new job with much better working hours, I have started watching loads of television especially Korean dramas from 6pm to 8pm every evening I am not out. I must start reclaiming some social life. Okay, I am officially 28 years old today. If I get to live to 84 years old, then this is a third of my life already. Pretty scary, isn’t it? It feels strange that despite what I have gone through or accomplished so far in my life, I actually feel that I have achieved nothing really significant till now! The human expectation and desire is hardly ever quenchable or satiable. I really am contemplating a possible post-graduate degree soon. A telling sign of ageing, I feel more comfortable lazing at home than roaming the streets of Orchard Road or City Hall. I think my socialising skills are deteriorating too. Gonna jumpstart my life, haha… especially now that the big “30” is just 2 years later. Yes, we classify people by the first integer of their age, haha… Once 30 years old, university and pre-reg life will seem like a distant past.
Today is really quite a slack day. Basically, I was contented to spend the morning watching the “live” telecast of the US vice presidential debate between Republican’s Sarah Palin and Democrat’s Joe Biden (I almost typed “Joe Bin Laden”, haha). Senator Joe was obviously at ease but Governor Palin performed much better than my expectations. Afternoon was a trip to the nearby library where I spent time reading. I saw people studying for ACCA and other subjects, but most of them seemed a little distracted with a Playstation Portable (PSP) at hand. I realise I do enjoy casual reading a lot! Unfortunately, I can’t make a living or get a wife with that… hee…
When I look back, I must thank God… yesterday was really funny. I left office early to ensure I would be on time to meet a gastroenterologist at a local hospital. However, the carpark was so crowded and I was at my wits’ end. Then a middle-aged guy (probably late forties or early fifties) signalled to me that he was leaving. With so many cars waiting, it was impossible that I would get his car lot wherever it was. He seemed to read my mind and told me to give him a lift to his lot which was just round the corner. So he hopped into my car, I drove up to his car, he hopped off and drove away his car, leaving a lot which I gratefully grabbed. Why did he choose to offer it to me when there are so many drivers waiting? I am not even female, haha… Maybe my car was just catchy? I look honest? Whatever… thank God! Haha…
So I rushed off to meet that doctor on time at Starbucks. Offered to buy her a drink but she declined. So we practically sat in Starbucks without a single purchase to show for. I presented a business proposal and she was impressed (she told me so, hee…) with the machine and my presentation, haha… She complained that representatives from other competing companies couldn’t answer her questions and did not provide any clinical papers. She was surprised that I was new on the job… I told her that I am an “old boy” of that hospital, haha… “Looking at clinical papers is in our blood,” I thought. Wanna catch up with fellow pharmacists that afternoon for lunch but it was the wrong timing (12.30pm) and they could not step out at the peak period. Sigh, not sure if I miss working in the hospital…
Okay gotta go now for the drama. Will be out for birthday celebration dinner with a friend later too! One former pharmacy classmate said that she is envious of my relaxing life… well, well, well… what can I say? It’s a matter of perception. Grass is always more luscious over the other side of the road, isn’t it? All the best! ;-)
God Bless,
Andrew
