A Simple Weekend Story

Dear Diary,

Work ended at 3pm today at the Serangoon Central branch. Due to that impromptu duty, I kinda had to miss either attending a former branch staff’s wedding lunch or my boss’s child’s one-year-old birthday celebration or visiting granny with my family. Missing all wasn’t that bad because it would be difficult to choose which one I want to attend since all started at noon today! The time spent working at that outlet was surprisingly enjoyable as I chatted with customers and the staff there. The staff personnel at that outlet are constantly changing but I usually kinda “clique” well with whoever is there, haha… The customers at that vicinity are also very nice people and they always are polite to me. Still remembering last year when I brought my two students there and a customer thought I was their “professor in the university”. Oh well… haha… It was also really nice when a locum pharmacist popped by to say hi. He asked about my plans after quitting. Somehow everyone seems to have this misconception that I am quitting to further my studies. Hmmm… rumours indeed! He was actually the resident pharmacist at Toa Payoh branch before he resigned and I took over his position in 2006. Of course, I had since left Toa Payoh branch too, haha… Nice chatting with him and his wife. The phone calls continued with many locums calling me up to ask my future plans. I am going to miss all the “uncle” and “auntie” locums who always encourage and advise me along in my job all these while. I guess if I can claim that I am wise, I must credit most to all the advices given so freely to me by the more experienced and more matured pharmacists along the way.

Anyway, I woke up super early in the morning today. I met up with a friend for the Holy Communion church service at 8am. The service was pretty traditional and they had wardens parading, the gospel held up with candles for the priest to read and even the officiating priest The Rev Dr Canon Louis Tay wore a chasuble! Love how he conducted the Eucharist with that kind of reverence. The preacher was Rev Mervyn Moore and I thought his sermon was just so appropriate for my friend, haha… I asked her if she preferred last week’s charismatic one at 9am or this week’s traditional one at 8am. She said the latter. I just knew it that I can’t be the only young adult who likes the liturgical service, hahaha… =P Treated her to breakfast at Long John Silver’s before I left for work. Really hope she will attend church regularly.

Yesterday, I had a break from coaching my student as she was on “off”. I had long chats with a locum pharmacist whom I had not spoken to in ages. I always like chatting with her, haha… and she is getting married next year! She said that she will invite me but if I go… it will be most comical because I never really spoke to her in any meaningful conversation verbally in my entire life! We communicated largely through messaging online. Another pharmacist, my ex-classmate in pharmacy school, also told me yesterday that she is getting married next year too! Such a coincidence! However, one could sense the contrast in moods between the two. The latter is totally so excited and overjoyed that she will have difficulty sleeping for the next few nights. The former is worried she may do a “runaway bride”. Geesshhh… I sure hope she doesn’t! I will be devastated if I were the groom.

Okay, that’s about all for now… Will catch the “Princess Diaries 2” on television later. I am a fan of Anne Hathaway, haha… Take care and have a great weekend ahead! =)

God Bless,

Andrew
