2008

Dear Diary,

Just came back earlier from the wet market with my parents. Mum was haggling and bargaining the prices of some fishes with a Teochew fishmonger, haha… quite funny to watch her do that. It has been a long time since I went to the wet market. My mum won that bargaining duel. Year 2007 came and went. It is now 2008. Time just flies, isn’t it? Good to start the year with a lazy day at home. Yet nothing seems to really change except our ageing process. Last night, I made a trip down to City Hall to meet up with a university friend. As it was the New Year’s Eve, the place was packed…. I don’t even know how anyone could still wriggle their way through CityLink last night!

As I was early last evening, I thought I could surprise a colleague with a little chocolate charlotte cake from “The Coffee Connoisseur” (TCC). But alas… she was not working there…. So I just gobbled up that cake after realising that I was actually quite hungry, haha… Met up with my friend and we ate a late dinner at Aijisen Ramen (my first time) in Funan Centre before we proceeded to the more secluded “Starbucks” café at Raffles City. Had a pretty long chat with him. Somehow… I have great hopes for the year 2008. I am resolved in making a couple of changes in my life and hope that the impetus will prevail. Resolutions have a historical tendency of fading into procrastinating and anonymity. Persevere! Haha… Realise that the crowd at City Hall made us feel “ancient”. Where has our generation disappeared to? Into the heartlands? The city district seems to be filled with people in their teens these days. If you are in your early twenties, you are considered the older group of people there already! I am in my mid-20s. Aarrrgghh… haha.

Sunday was good too… had lunch at the Plaza Market Café in Raffles the Plaza. It was an awesome buffet with an intercontinental theme. You should really taste the durian puddings there…. Marvellous!!! Anyway, throughout this period of leave from work…. It was sinful consumptions of food for just almost every meal! Feeling bloated and sluggish… Could have felt even worse if not for some evening jogs and doses of probiotic samples from medical representatives! Haha…

I wish you all a blessed and fruitful New Year ahead! 2008…. Here we come! =)

God Bless,

Andrew
