Lazy Post

Dear Diary,

Nice relaxing evening at home… spent most of the time chatting with my parents as we snacked and watched those free-to-air mandarin soap operas. It is nice to be home at dinnertime and have that “usual 8am – 5pm” working life… which has become so rare in today’s world. I wonder if it is normal but I am beginning to be a little “nauseated” with working life. Sigh…

This evening home on a public bus was initially uncomfortable. There was this rather tomboyish girl who sat beside me and kept picking her nose. I was… like… oh please, at least do it discreetly if you can’t help it! She didn’t. Doing it casually yet with such rehearsed skill… Impression dropped at least 5-folds. So you know what you can do if I like you and you want me to give up liking you, hahaha… Ok, that’s rubbish… anyway, I was quite surprised when she later saw an elderly lady and offered her seat. Hmmm… we really cannot judge someone skin-deep.

Yesterday in church, I had this funny encounter. I reached the church early and sat down in the pews. My sisters were sitting on my left and my parents were on usher duty. A middle-aged lady (probably in her late 30’s, my guess based on her kids) brought her three little kids and sat beside me. She was pretty well-groomed and I couldn’t help noticing her bright yellow painted fingernails. Later, she told me she is a recently baptised Catholic (less than a year of conversion) from Church of the Holy Family and was looking for a new church to settle in as she has moved her residence. I whispered in reply… “This is an Anglican church.” Guess she was just as amused as me to be stepping into St Andrew’s Cathedral, thinking it was Catholic. She didn’t really know what was an Anglican church and sometimes I kinda admire this kind of innocence. There is difference between how a male and a female practises his or her faith. Generally, women are more spiritual, more religious and more trusting. Males, on the other hand, tend to be more pragmatic, logical and make good theologians I guess. Sigh… For myself, I don’t really know if I opened a Pandora’s box but since Christianity is all about the Truth, there is this desire in me to know the full truth. Not partially or ambiguous one. That is leading me to a denominational crisis actually. I cannot stop though… the curiosity is roused. Maybe Pontius Pilate was just as puzzled when he asked the Christ, “What is truth?” He probably did not know that absolute truth exists.

Anyway, the lady stayed on but eventually left slightly before the service ended. Politely bid farewell to me and gosh… you should really see her youngest daughter… super cute girl. She was earlier fumbling with the English Standard Version (ESV) bible in the pews… hee… You know something, I thought this lady was more “charismatic” than me… singing, clapping and raising her hands in worship. Something I used to do quite a long while back when I was in my previous church many years back, haha…

I tried to sign up for a Facebook account on Saturday but realised that I had one already since April this year! Tried to join a network group only to realise that I am already the administrator / officer of it… geeshhh… how forgetful but anyway, Facebook is pretty sophisticated. Played a little game on it but doubt I have much time to visit it often. Set up a couple more network groups also.

On 23 Nov (Fri), I got my first Christmas greeting for the year 2007 from a customer. I was advising this young mother on vitamin C products and when it was over… I was almost bowled over when she wished me a Merry Christmas. I tried to steady my composure and fumbled a “Merry Christmas to you” reply. Suddenly, it just occurred to me that Christmas is approaching! The pharmacy is filled with Christmas decorations and the Christmas carols are broadcasted in the store daily these days! If you know me, I love Christmas carols! ;-) Kinda have a super block leave during the Christmas period this year, specially planned by moi, haha…

I really need a good rest and sooooo soooo looking forward to Christmas!!!!!

God Bless,

Andrew
