Good O' Monday

Dear Diary,

Looking like a crab now… having two tones of colour on my body. Red on the dorsal and light brown on the ventral… you will get it if you studied anatomy and still remember those terms, haha… =) I hope my skin does not peel… especially those on my nose bridge. It has been quite a long while since I got sunburn. Swimming can be pretty deceptive. I didn’t actually feel the sun scorch my skin this afternoon when I was in the swimming pool at Kallang Basin. The place was a ghost town. For long periods of time, three lifeguards, myself and the swimming pool… almost felt as if the pool belonged to me…. Hmmm… haha. =) Good workout… swam 26 laps before leaving for Parkway Parade. Visited a colleague and chatted for a while. Well, she asked why my hair seemed to “stand” and I looked like “I just woke up”. I told her that it must had been the chlorine from the swimming pool causing that havoc, haha… She really saw me in my super “un-glam” state: Was wearing round-necked over-sized Newcastle soccer jersey, a floppy Inter Milan shorts (yup, a mismatch of even the teams!), old sandals, a sling bag from last year’s National Day (yup, have that National Day logo, the sponsors’ logos and it is red and white). Anyway, later went to do a little shopping at the Giant supermarket just upstairs. Was buying some food stuff to treat myself, haha… and to stock up too! =)

Of course, hit the books at the nearby library also. I was hoping to pick up “Next” by Michael Crichton. Not again, all the copies were out on loan. That is the only Michael Crichton book that I have yet to read! Oh well… it had been quite a long while since I really visited that Marine Parade library. I guess the world has changed quite a lot. Saw Nanyang Girls’ High students with ponytails! (They never had ponytails during my time, They only have short traditional hair style that ended at the ear-lops) Chinese nationals in Victoria Junior College uniform! (The only foreigners in VJC during my era were just Malaysians)… basically, now that I really take notice… changes are not that un-noticeable actually.

This morning trip to the dentist was also pretty impromptu. The dentist looked like he is in his late 60’s. I wished his hands weren’t that shaky but considering that he is probably almost 70 years old… not bad, good job. He told me that my teeth were incredible. Incredibly good or bad? Apparently, because Dad and Mum did not bring me to the dentist when I was twelve… and somehow, my baby pre-molars survived… my teeth became crowded after the wisdom teeth pushed through. No more straight teeth. When the dentist knew that I am a pharmacist, he took out his prescription and asked if I would give him a discount if he bought co-diovan from my pharmacy.

“Sure! Why not?” I replied with a smile. I could see that he respects the pharmacy profession. Asked me lots of stuff. Then he asked me if I wanted to get some toothbrush and toothpaste from him…. Sigh… looking at the rundown condition of his dental clinic, his elderly female assistant… ok, I got that Colgate 360-degree toothbrush and that Colgate Total 12-hour toothpaste. Frankly, there is really no job that is more “interesting” than the other…. They basically will become boring if you have no passion for it. For this close-to-70-year-old dentist, I am sure he has passion… hmmm… just wondering why there is a Tom Clancy storybook on his table.

Ok, going to sneak off for a short while to take some mooncakes from Raffles Hotel. Love that white chocolate buried in the middle of the lotus seed paste centre of the snow-skinned mooncakes! =) Yummy… by the way, I love mooncakes… any mooncake treats are greatly welcomed! ;-P

God Bless,

Andrew<
