Just a Casual Entry

Dear Diary,

Time flies, isn’t it? There seems to be always shortage of time! Work is piling up at office and I have tonnes of literature to read back home. It doesn’t help that I kept nodding off and succumbing to my bed every evening! Last Monday (20 Apr), I met up with two colleagues for a Japanese dinner at the Tampopo restaurant in Liang Court nearby Clarke Quay. Clarke Quay can be a fantastic place to take an evening stroll!

The meal was quite okay except the “Shabu Shabu” set (thinly sliced black pig meat to be dipped in boiling herbal soup) was kinda expensive. One of the two colleagues was leaving (or rather she has left by now) the company. You know, when you are with two girls... they just had lots of gossips and office news to share with you, haha... I suddenly felt I am in the company longer than my chronological experience! ;-) We really chatted pretty long before taking a walk over to “The Central” where the girls wanted Japanese desserts! Alright... there’s something about girls and Japanese culture, isn’t it? After about almost 4 hours, we parted ways.

Four days later, I rushed back to office from Raffles Hospital (although I should be heading straight home) to my office as the departing colleague insisted on a photograph together as it was her last day in this company. That’s about it. We are one man down. Gonna miss her around.

On Thursday, I met up with a “client” but really... we were more like friends. We took a walk down to Far East Plaza and ate lunch in this Japanese fast food restaurant (yeah... not again). It was very empty but the concept of this “Kitchen Mogu Mogu” is interesting. Even the girl who took our orders looked like a comic character in a Japanese anime / manga! You should go try it someday, haha... $5.80 for a main course, miso soup, ice tea and chawanmushi. Not fantastic taste but reasonable. I kept watching the environment... if I were the boss, I will be very worried with the poor human traffic and the exorbitant rental in one of Singapore’s premier shopping districts.

Anyway, yesterday I met up with my cell group leader to accompany him to buy some guitar strings. He seems so “fluent” in the guitar language and all those jargons, brand names... if only his skills match up with his in-depth knowledge! =P Then again, his passion is evident and he will play the guitar well someday. Treated him roti prata for “brunch” and it is always nice talking to him about politics, religion and even AWARE... haha... We see the unfortunate occurrence in that group more than just a cat-fight. Most Singaporeans don’t bother and that’s about how apathetic our society has become. Then it was to the church to practise singing some songs.

We are singing a Hokkien song (when I don’t know that language very well) and that Teresa Teng’s evergreen “Tian Mi Mi” for the upcoming Elderly party at the void deck of a block of flats in Redhill next Saturday (2 May). We were choreographing the moves but our youthful young adults in church weren’t that adventurous and so we had some great “elderly” hand motions for our songs, hahaha... =P I actually prefer more engaging actions... especially when I will be hitting the big “30” in less than 2 years! Be young while you can! Nice little Light-of-Hope gathering actually... if only our “official” young adult gatherings aren’t that cliquish and gender-segregated.

At 1.30pm, left to meet up with a friend who passed me her wedding invitation card. We caught up over ice-blended beverages and exquisite cakes in the lounge at the Esplanade library. It was nice hearing her share about her packed schedules and thoughts about getting married. In short, a hassle, hahaha... Once in a lifetime, so it is okay lah... ;-)

Alright, no real topic to discuss in this blog entry... just drifting along... gotta start getting back to my books. Another 300 pages more... hope I can get it done by today. I know... it’s ambitious, haha... Take care!

God Bless,

Andrew
