Warming Up
Dear Diary,
It has been almost one month since I last added a blog entry! I wonder if there is any reader left by now, haha... The month of May is particularly busy with military physical trainings on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.45pm to 9.30pm. Thankfully, the last training session (which is a test) will be tomorrow. I was also writing up my MBA essay assignment which I completed with more than 3600 words. Also struggling to keep up with the one-year bible reading plan... I was reading in spurts rather than consistently. Earlier this evening, I was reading chapters after chapters to catch up on the shortfall. Engage in cell group meetings more often and also started casual dating a little after such a long hiatus. That’s life for me... I am not sure where it will all head but I am glad that everything is moving rhythmically. I will have to start studying for the upcoming exams in mid June. It is a crazily busy life and I can no longer say I have nothing to do. Nevertheless, I still pamper myself with some Korean drama “Likeable or Not” on TV. I guess it is more for the eye-candy Ms Han Ji-Hye in that drama. ;-)
The Tamil Tigers were totally destroyed. Manchester United lifted the Premier League trophy and so did Barcelona and Inter Milan with their respective domestic trophies. Ministry of Education bans AWARE’s sex education programs pending investigation and review. The H1N1 virus has infected more than 190 people in Japan by now. Temasek Holding has lost billions of taxpayers’ money after it was revealed that they sold their stakes in Bank of America. Our world is changing so drastically that sometimes I wonder if there is anything one can prepare for. While we may have our fanciful plans to build our career, our wealth, to find someone to marry, to have kids... we must keep in sight our reason for Earthly existence which is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
I can’t help realising that as one becomes a Christian longer, one also subtly loses that fervour to witness and win souls for the Kingdom of God and for salvation. Instead... with increasing knowledge, we become preoccupied with polemics and love engaging in unedifying debates whereby the outcome matters little since most went in with an entirely closed mind. The ego becomes unnecessarily involved and the motive is suspicious. If we love God, we ought to love our neighbours and keep His commandments (John 14:15). The Truth is pretty simple but we have unknowingly make a mountain out of a molehill.
Caught the movie “Angels and Demons” recently and it was a thriller which somehow allows many to have a glimpse into Christendom at the Vatican. Quite interesting... and to enjoy it thoroughly as I did, you better have a good understanding of Catholic vocabularies like sede vacante, cardinals, conclave, camerlengo, fisherman ring... Alright, nothing much... Can’t seem to write anything else. Possibly a lack of practise. Let this be a warm-up entry. Okay, that’s about all for now. Take care and have a nice tomorrow. Mine will be good for today and tomorrow since work is just basically attending a communication & relationship management workshop in dressed-down attire! ;-)
God Bless,
Andrew
