Kenny Rogers At Last!

Dear Diary,

Haha… just heard from my sister that the young neighbour boy whom I once reassured over life in National Service, is actually a member of the three-men team which won last round’s Superband competition of Channel U! Surprise, surprise… just as surprising to know that my former pharmacy classmate who is (or was?) a quiet girl, is also part of a band in that same competition! Geessshhh… so many stars around me but I barely know it, haha… =P Anyway, it can be quite nice to eat dinner cooked by Mum and watching that sweet and something hilarious Korean drama “Heart of 19” this evening. However, there was one scene which this girl (who was going to get married to someone she had no feelings for) met up with the man she truly loves. She gave him a necktie and was to the point of breaking into tears when he wished her all the best for her marriage. Sigh… wonder if such things happen often in real life. Pretty sad scene indeed.

Anyway, I met up with a friend today for a movie. We caught “The Incredible Hulk” in the Marina Square GV theatre at 11am. I used to frequent that theatre with my university clique before the theatre was renovated. So today was the first time I watched in that cinema since the renovation. The huge theatre was pretty empty with just 10 viewers including both of us! I took that opportunity to snuggle in that comfortable seat and kicked off my sandals, haha… This sequel movie was much better than the original one “The Hulk”. The plot and the action scenes were pretty awesome too! ;-)

After the movie, we ate lunch at Kenny Rogers in Marina Square and it was really affordable with that Lunch Special. I just paid $13.50 for the set meal which included chicken chop, two side dishes of my choice (I chose a serving of macaroni with cheese and a serving of mashed potato), a super viscous cream-of-mushroom soup with lots of shredded chicken and a fruit tea! It had been such a long time ago since I ate at Kenny Rogers and I am so glad I get to eat it at long last! Haha… Had a nice chat and then we went around checking out the restaurants in Marina Square, Suntec City and Raffles City because my friend was looking for inspiration to organise one of his friends’ birthday celebration meal. Apparently, there will be a match making “intention” in that meal! Haha… All the best, dude! ;-)

We took a long walk to Somerset and I checked out a possible postgraduate study course. If I can cope well in my new job, I may seriously consider studying something. In fact, just dropped an email to another friend who told me that she wants to join me for a Masters. We will see lah… haha… she is actually getting married and I doubt she really has the time! =P Basically, it was a relaxing and fulfilling day today! Haha…

On Saturday last week, my student’s friend came along and joined us (my student, the student with my name plus surname and myself) for lunch. It was hilarious how my student kept saying she didn’t think a particular classmate of hers (doing preceptorship in a rival pharmacy organisation and highly sought after by my own male classmates) was that pretty. Hmmm… I have no comments because I never seen that girl. No intention whatsoever but I have to agree with my student that her “very good” friend is pretty. So that student with my name got a little “ostracised” by my own student because he agreed with the perception of my classmates, hahaha… Complicated stuff.

Yesterday on Sunday, I accompanied a friend to church. I really think she is a very nice girl but she seemed a little troubled. Really hope and pray that God will continue to give her strength and perseverance as she draws closer to Him. After that 8am service which ended at 9.30am, I left for another service which my family was attending. It was Father’s Day. The priest, in his sermon, took a swipe at Roman Catholicism on their alleged “idolatry”. Sigh… I could sense that my church is fast departing from the Oxford movement and moving back to the Reformed position in Anglican history. After all, so many of our priests were formerly from staunch reformed backgrounds like the Baptist denomination. Frankly, I don’t know what I am… I am beginning to get the “Peter syndrome” if you get what I mean. Oh well… I prefer to be known as an Anglican than a Protestant. While I admit the Reformation knocked some sense into the Catholic Church’s hierarchy in their blatant flout of morality in the Middle Ages, I generally view the Reformation as a tragedy rather than a necessary event in Church history. The Anglican church obviously was not part of the Reformation which converted half of continental Europe from the Roman Church.

Anyway for that Sunday, we ate humbly at a food court in Millennial Walk before we brought dad to the Computer Fair at Suntec City where my sisters and I bought a laptop computer for him as a gift for Father’s Day. =) We checked out some showrooms along Mount Sophia later that afternoon just for the fun of it. ;-) Was wondering how nice it is to live in a studio apartment near the City with one’s wife and enjoy the scenic surrounding. Well, well well… hahaha…

Amazing… a SMS just came in. A promoter in my previous pharmacy outlet is asking about attending my church! I may ask her and maybe my former pharmacy assistant to join my friend and I at church this Sunday! A possibility… pray for me that I can bring them to know Christ more and more! ;-)

Okay, that’s about all for now… Take care and goodnight! ;-)

God Bless,

Andrew
