Land of Night-Fliers
Dear Diary,
Okay… waiting for my hair to dry so that I can go to bed!!! Awww… I think my biological clock is super “upset” by this series of night shifts at the airport. Yup, just brushed my teeth minutes ago. The significance of that teeth-brushing session was that it was the first in 3 days! I was bathing and wondering what routine activity I had missed out over the last 3 days… brushing teeth! With my work starting at 6.30pm and ending at 6.30am, I am at loss at what time I should be eating my meals and incidentally forgot all about my teeth.
Many pharmacists are very surprised that I actually scheduled myself to work at night which no one in their right mind will do. Maybe I am really not in my right mind, haha… then again, because the usual night locums are not available due to holidays and reservist trainings, I could not bear to make others work the night shifts. So self-sacrificing, yeah? Hahaha… However, it has been pretty interesting so far. Met lots of tourists… some of whom kept passing me the translation dictionary as they spoke; I remembered one German lady for that. =) Then there are other funny incidents like a policeman who after checking my airport pass in the usual patrol, asked me to take a look at his skin condition. I was… like… huh? Wake me up from my nap at the sofa to check pass and then want me to examine a skin condition? Get me the scalpel. I am going to do an incision & drainage (I&D) now! He fled with his two assault-rifle bearing guards.
Then it was hard to keep oneself awake with the kind of music they play again and again in the airport transit area. Sounds like a “Kitaro-inspired” music to me. Soothing and sleep-inducing… Had some chats with the night-shift staff to keep myself awake. On Wednesday morning yesterday, after work… I rushed down to sit the complimentary “Singapore Flyer” ride. Initially, I was not interested but decided to give “face” to Human Resource executive who kept insisting I go. There… a half-awake me ate sponsored breakfast, met up with staff from my current and former outlets… sat the first capsule on the world-largest observatory wheel. The view is pretty good but definitely not worth the $30 ticket fee. I don’t think I would even pay $5 for that ½ hour ride. Most people just spent their time snapping and posing for the photos. So after that “Singapore Flyer” ride, I took a walk all the way to Fullerton building in just 15 minutes and got on a bus for home to sleep. Only managed to sleep at 11am. Geeshhhh…
Waiting for some important phone calls but they never seem to come. Frankly, I am not exactly that confident these days. Maybe my expectations are too high. Also, can’t seem to reach my friend. Hope she’s feeling fine now after a break-up with her boyfriend a while back. Sigh… No time to meet up with her also this week. She seems un-contactable in the first place.
Okay, that’s all for now. Hair dried. Eyelids drooping. I must sleep now! ;-) Good morning to you and goodnight to me.
God Bless,
Andrew
