Cherishing People

Dear Diary,

Can’t believe that a phone call just before I left my pharmacy this evening can actually leave my plans next Sunday in limbo. Sigh… I am supposed to be attending a college classmate’s wedding dinner but unfortunately happen to be the on-call pharmacist on that same day. Geeshhhh… what can I do other than pray? Period of Lent! Also can’t help having that “lame duck” feeling. Then again, my future is not exactly charted so far. I am still grappling over a couple of difficult options.

I am beginning to love the pharmacy outlet I am currently working in! The colleagues there are an incredibly awesome bunch! ;-) I am barely there for 3 weeks but can already feel the warmth of their hospitality and friendship. I love the customers at that vicinity too. This is surprising to many as that place is reputed to be frequent by wealthy demanding snobs, haha… However, if there is anything I gain from my work in retail life, it is how to handle difficult people.

Last night, a friend asked me out for dinner. I was pretty surprised because the only time I ever met her for dinner was kind of a consoling session. Relationship issues then. Anyway, I met her at about 8pm and we ate at Borders Bistro restaurant. It was my first time eating there but I chose it because it was relatively empty and more cosy than the others in Wheelock Place. Had a really nice chat with her. Sometimes, when I think about my plans to move on in life, I think of the people I cherish. The people whom I will inevitably leave behind as I embark on my next lap of journey to realise my dreams and desires.

It is a hard fact but many people in our lives will eventually be distant memories. They will leave imprints that shape our lives as remarkably as unique individuals themselves. Anyway, for this friend… I haven’t even know her more than 2 years but am always so touched by how she will go all out to help me, encourage me and even intercede for me. Really… her altruism takes our working relationship to a friendship which I never thought possible with a colleague.

Valentine’s Day is coming in slightly over 24 hours. I remember how we used to celebrate it as a day to remember friends (especially during our college years)… this year, fortunately or unfortunately, I am still single, haha… =P I will work on Valentine’s Day so that the rest can enjoy their dates with their loved ones! Just dedicate this romantic song below to you readers out there… you know… just to get you in the mood of the season whether you are going on a date on Thursday or not! ;-) Got a bouquet of roses and ferrero roche chocolates from someone. Sadly, it is from a sales rep. Anyway….

Because I Love You
by Shakin’ Stevens

If I got down on my knees and I pleaded with you
If I crossed a million oceans just to be with you
Would you ever let me down?

If I climbed the highest mountain just to hold you tight
If I said that I would love you every single night
Would you ever let me down?

Well I'm sorry if it sounds kinda sad, it's just that
Worried, so worried
that you let me down

Because I love you, love you
Love you, so don't let me down

If I swam the longest river just to call your name
If I said the way I feel for you would never change
Would you ever fool around

Well I'm sorry if it sounds kinda bad, just that
Worried, cuz' I'm so worried
that you let me down

Because I love you, love you
Love you, so don't let me down

Well I'm sorry if it sounds kinda bad, just that
Worried, cuz' I'm so worried
that you let me down

Because I love you, love you
Love you, so don't let me down

Happy Valentine’s Day! Wish you a great time of cherishing those whom you love; be it your spouse, your boyfriend / girlfriend or your friends!

God Bless,

Andrew
