Life and Money
Dear Diary,
So glad to be back in my bedroom. The past few days were pretty packed with activities and I am really burnt out. In fact, earlier on… a former classmate, who did pre-registration training with me, said that she was surprised that I was actually saying that I am tired. She pointed out correctly that back in the hospital days, I hardly ever showed lethargy or complaint about it. That’s a good wake-up call. What is happening to me? Am I actually leading a balanced life and enjoying my work? Even attending the “P-Medicine” seminar seems a little boring this evening and I could not concentrate on the lecture as much as I usually could. In fact, there was a moment I vacillated leaving the premises right after signing the attendance, and skipping the lecture. Not very honest act but I was glad I overcame that thought, which was made even more tempting by the persuasions from some of my friends, haha…
On the Monday that just past, I went for a sumptuous buffet dinner hosted by a pharmaceutical company at the Plaza Royal Park Hotel. The oysters were good. Loved those sashimi, those soft-shelled crabs…. Yummy… could have missed that dinner if the scheduled clique gathering went ahead. It did not help when the next morning, I was back in another hotel (Meritus Mandarin Hotel) for buffet breakfast because of yet another pharmaceutical company’s seminar. Have to admit that I love those delicious food served in such an awesome ambience. =) As much as I love the “high-society” life, I was pretty contented sitting around with two persons at Coffee Bean outside Paragon and just talking about anything under the moonlight on Tuesday evening.
It was quite a strange scenario because I asked a colleague out for coffee after work and later her former classmate (whom I didn’t know) came to join us. They were my direct seniors back in the universities. We just talked about our career plans and stuff like that… quite a no-bars session… Anyway, had a pretty nice chat with this senior’s former classmate as we took the last train home. She works in the hospital and somehow, they whine much less than the pharmacists in the retail sector…. Hmmm…Then it occurred to me that… although I have a whole load of plans for this month including a tour and a camping trip… the suspense of a particular result is unsettling me! A former classmate has just received an offer and she is taking it up. As for me, whether I am successful or not, I would have to keep my finger crossed for the next few weeks or so.
If I am not successful, you can be sure that I am going to have a major paradigm shift. I trust God that He knows what is best for me but then again… humanly speaking, I really wonder if I could accept a verdict against my wishes. I pray I do. In this world where everyone talks about career and money… I am reminded the truth that:
Money can buy you medicine but not health.
Money can buy you a house but not a home.
Money can buy you companions but not friends.
Money can buy you entertainment but not happiness.
Money can buy you food but not appetite.
Money can buy you a bed but not sleep.
Money can buy you a crucifix but not a Saviour.
Money can buy you a good life but not eternal life.
Maybe it is true that the poorest people are those have tons of money and nothing else.
Ok, that’s all for tonight… drifting off to sleep. Goodnight!
God Bless,
Andrew

When I read of some blogs like those of Mr Brown, Xiaxue, and yours etc., just to name a few, I am amazed by the amount of time they spent writing and updating blogs. For readers like me, reading is a leisure which I engage in like reading other people's life stories and experiences which they encounter. However, I am more puzzled by whether blogging can stand the test of time. The efforts and time taken to pen down their thoughts had prompted to email Wendy Cheng last year on the feasibility of remaining a "full-time blogger" and some other issues which I hoped to raise her thoughts to share. However, she did not reply my email, much to my expectations.
WILL BLOGS STAND THE TEST OF TIME AND REMAIN POPULAR 10 YEARS LATER? Whatever, reading blogs may no longer be my interest anymore one of these days.
