Recipe for a Busy Fortnight!

Dear Diary,

Just gave Mum and Dad an early Christmas present… and guess what… it is the Karada Scan which measures percentage body fat, percentage visceral fat, basal metabolism and more. Thought it was a good and unique present… furthermore, it is currently on a pretty good offer price! =) This coming Thursday, may just go down to meet my roster assistant (also a pharmacist) to shop for and wrap some gifts. I must say that she gave a good suggestion that we get some little Christmas gifts for the pharmacy department. Hope it is within my budget though, hahaha…

Since last week’s Monday, I haven’t got a chance to rest. On Sunday (26/11/06) which was supposed to be my rest day, I got called up for on-call duty. Oh man… however, I had a wonderful time chatting with this locum pharmacist while on duty. We were making use of this telepharmacy program in our computer. Basically, we could text-message and see each other through the video camera. It was interesting to be able say “cheers” to someone at the other end of Singapore with your bottle of plain water, hahaha… Thanks for her excellent company and the technology that brought us into connection, my Sunday on-call duty wasn’t too bad.

Today was another hectic day although I was not at work. I made a trip down to an institution for two interviews and an on-the-spot essay. Then we were given a chance to experience a new style of learning. It was awesome I must say. We were the very first batch of selected candidates for the interviews and the photographer was snapping away at our every moves. There was a guy with a video camera too. I arrived at institution right on time but I was already the last person out of the 14 candidates to arrive.

Everyone wore very formally and some came in coats too. I was just casually in long-sleeves and necktie. Most of the candidates were clearly well-prepared for the interviews but unfortunately for them, the questions were not the usual ones. As for me, I was just thankful that those questions were unique but manageable so that I will not be seen as very unprepared. =) I thought I did quite okay in those two interviews with some very prominent talented people.

They had lunch for us and interacted very much with us… we couldn’t really fade into obscurity with our name-tag prominently placed. I was just one out of four male candidates and the only one from NUS. One was from NTU and the other 2 were from American universities. We had a glimpse and a feel of how the lessons would be subsequently conducted… In short, it was a long day but a fulfilling one indeed.

At least, this Christmas… there is a decent movie on what Christmas is all about, instead of some reindeer, snowman, the Grinch or some Santa Claus stories. I am sure the movie “The Nativity Story” will be an awesome one. I sure hope I can go catch the movie somehow despite my busy schedule. =)

That’s all for now… Goodnight.

God Bless,

Andrew
