Drop a quick one

Dear Diary,

Sometimes, I really wonder what will I become after a few years? Will I be ruthless and unfeeling? Then again, if I want things to work smoothly… it is inevitable to be a little less accommodative. Some of those requests were worded almost like pleas and if I did not grant them… I feel like a villain and I don’t like that feeling. Had a 71-minute talk on the phone with a pharmacist (twice my age), just to reject his request as politely as possible. Sigh… Furthermore, with the recent individual meeting with my superior, it was made known that there will be more performance indicators and sales targets to meet…. Stressed? I don’t know… can’t feel it yet. =)

Then again, I do enjoy my job actually… when administrative work does not bog me down, I love to advise and provide information to my customers. Just today, there was this lady who came into my pharmacy wanting to buy folic acid to make her child intelligent. Apparently, her chemist friend told her that. I was puzzled and we had a chat. I dispelled the myth that folic acid can be used to increase intelligence in a 2-year-old kid. Maybe it will help in an anaemic child to allow more blood cell production and consequentially more blood flow to the brain? I am hypothesizing. Recommended her to buy some products with arachidonic acid (AA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)….

“Actually, during our time… many parents don’t even give such supplements and we grew up fine and intelligent,” I said. She chuckled. Actually, I think my Mum gave me S-11 formula milk though, hahaha… anyway, these two omega-3 fatty acids can be found in breast milk. She decided to buy though… but then she grabbed my arm and said, “Made in Malaysia”. I was a little stunned. Then she put it back and smilingly said, “Don’t want a Malaysian product although my husband is a Malaysian.” I rolled my eyes. Come to think about it, it is hilarious.

This evening, when my locum pharmacist came to take over my shift duty… she brought along her former university classmate (from the same clique) and that classmate was someone who invigilated me during my licence training in the hospital! It was quite funny to see them giggling and acting like young students… Apparently, they were discussing whom she should invite for her wedding dinner. Then she said she wanted to invite her lab partner (a guy) but dare not call him. So the locum pharmacist volunteered to help her friend. =) It just occurred to me that we better cherish people around us even though we are busy working. Or else, we may just want to invite someone to our wedding dinner and don’t know how to do it! Haha… Nice that some classmates popped by my pharmacy for lunch yesterday and last Friday as they were having some seminar nearby. =)

Anyway, just some thoughts. Goodnight.

God Bless,

Andrew
