Oktoberfest
Dear Diary,
Sometimes, I wish I get sick enough for a medical certificate… haha… I am just too healthy… sigh… Over-worked but never ill… Jeeezz… the worst combination! The rain has fallen and the haze is probably gone very soon. I haven’t run for a long long time! Then again, at the Pharmacy Week, I took my own body fat analysis and realised that I am very healthy! 16% body fat (normal for guys: 10 – 20%) and 3% visceral fat (normal: 1 – 9%)… =) Strangely… I don’t actually feel that I am in good shape.
Today was all about counting medicine… the stock-take is tomorrow. I think I will never ever get used to doing roster with so many inflexible colleagues and a shortage of manpower. Oh whatever… don’t want to think about it.
Even yesterday’s public holiday was not a rest-day for me. As early as 8am in the morning, people were calling in sick. I was surprisingly calm, all prepared and anticipating these potential “disappearing” acts. However, I had too few bunnies up my sleeves! After solving 2 absentees, I had to sacrifice myself for the 3rd one as I was the on-call pharmacist!
However, yesterday afternoon was great! A locum pharmacist just came back from her backpack tour and got me some great goodies from Vietnam. She then gave me a superb Oktoberfest lunch treat at the Crossroads Café at the Marriott Hotel. Her Austin Mini cabriolet is awesome! Too bad, it was too warm to bring down the canopy. Had some really nice pork fillet with sour cabbages, a glass of smooth German brewed beer, a huge salad bowl, a bowl of mushroom cream soup (the best I have tasted so far!) and delicious pastries. Had a pretty long 3-hour chat at the cafe with her till 4pm before I rushed off to man my company’s biggest pharmacy store. Think it is a long while since I ate such good food.
Manning such a busy store looks intimidating but I thought I was pretty nimble to match up with the crowd and the size of the store. However, at the end of yesterday… although I was exhausted, there was that satisfaction that I could do it! Yeah! =)
Okay, think that’s all for tonight! Praying for optimism! You may not believe… but the mood can change while typing a blog. When I started typing this entry, I was exhausted and pessimistic. Now that I kinda unwittingly look at my life and the small blessings or privileges… I am going to bed optimistic! I am sure I will be able to face tomorrow’s challenges! ;-) All the best!
God Bless,
Andrew
