Friends are friends forever?
Dear Diary,
Okay, gonna quickly put in this entry and then rush off to bed, haha… I have to work tomorrow which is Sunday since I swapped duties so as to have today (Saturday) off. It was quite a special day today. I went back to my former church and watched my former church friend take her holy matrimonial vows. She now belongs to the largest charismatic church in Singapore and so her pastor was officiating that ceremony… yup… somehow, the process of the matrimony seemed secular to me and did not felt very “Christian” despite the stained glasses which adorned the Anglican chapel. Met up with a number of former church friends and had a short chat with the bride. It had been a long time indeed. A former Anglican vicar’s wife actually asked me if I am attached and when I said “no”, she asked me if I wanted to join some “Singles’ meeting group”. I will see about that, haha…
No prejudice here… Christians are Christians… but yet somehow… don’t know if it is a cultural attachment or what… I doubt I will ever leave the Anglican denomination so I had better get an Anglican Christian wife, hahaha… I just don’t get used to the way other Christians conduct the Holy Communion, the Holy Matrimony… for today’s case… the first blessing the pastor placed on the married couple was financial success… hmmm… really too radical for an Anglican Christian like me, haha… I thought it should be like putting Christ in the centre of the marriage, honoring and loving each other forever? The groom joked during the oath session… “for better or for worse, should be better… for richer or poorer, it better be richer….” Excuse me, it is a serious oath!
Anyway, after the photo-taking session, I rushed off to attend Young Adult Ministry in St Andrew’s Cathedral and it had been a long time since I went there. They said my new spectacles are cool, hahaha… I hope I can attend these Saturday meetings more regularly but that would mean working on Sundays… a difficult decision to make. Ironically, I was recently given the responsibility to plan weekly working rosters for all the pharmacists in my company. I don’t know if that is a blessing or not, haha… maybe I can be in more control of my duties? Then again, it will also mean more work and may have to “sacrifice” myself if needed to make the roster work… I sure hope God can help me cope with this immense responsibility… it’s going to be really challenging because it will be dealing with people… and that is always very challenging, hahaha…
Come Monday evening, I will get to see some of my former pharmacy classmates when we attend the second lesson of that seminar. Then on Tuesday evening, it will be my company’s Dinner and Dance (D&D)… maybe I will wear a coat and drive the car? Haha… we will see about that. However, in a recent email from a former pharmacy classmate offering job openings in a particular hospital… I noticed that one of the contactable names was omitted in that email. Could this person who worked in that hospital left her job already? Hmmm… as far as I know… quite a number of classmates had changed jobs over these few months. Suddenly, it just occurred to me that in my hectic working schedule… I have kinda forgotten many of my pharmacy classmates. Wonder how they are coping… Sigh… the “prophecy” is right… contacts between friends may subtly be lessen over time as one embarks on the career.
Isn’t it sad that some good friendships just fade over time? Some people whom you have so much contact then… and now… * poof * … they disappear from your life and reappear only when they give out wedding invitations…
Sigh... the latest news is that Juventus will be relegated to Serie B and stripped of their 2 Serie A Championship titles for corruption! I think I may just stop watching soccer for the next one year... Well… whatever the case, take care and goodnight! ;-P
God Bless,
Andrew

No, I don't think friendship fades that easily. Just that everyone is coping with their life. I'm sure you are already in their minds!

Really... I am not too sure about that.
