Flashback

Dear Diary,

Got one evening off at last. =) I haven’t watched any 7pm drama since I went for reservist training more than 2 weeks ago. So I was watching this Korean drama “Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang” on Channel U. My oh my, that girl starred by Han Chae Young, is SUPER cute! Sometimes, you really wonder what the media has done to us and our perceptions. We are constantly bombarded by all the hunks and babes, the beautiful cars, the latest fashion... no wonder the world is never satisfied and continues in its materialistic pursuit. One of the nurses was telling me today that if I have time for lunch with them, they will introduce me a girl who is working in their clinical laboratory... oh well... I should be getting excited but I wasn’t... is age catching up on me? Haha...

Talking about age, I met up with some of my former pre-registration colleagues on Monday. I was late because I had a meeting till quite late and had to ferry my heavily pregnant boss to her Mercs. Yes, give her some credit in terms of nation-building... that’s the number fifth one in her womb. So, I met up with my ex-colleagues at Toa Payoh Hub which in itself already a very nostalgic place. One of my ex-colleagues is pregnant also and will be due for delivery next month. We had a nice long chat over dinner at the Crystal Jade restaurant there. I went for the “Chicken noodles in Portuguese style” because I once ate that during lunch when I was a pharmacist at Toa Payoh. At that time, it tasted so good but I had to gobble it up because my lunch period was just a mere 40 minutes and they took so long to serve me the food then. So I ate it again years later but it did not taste that good now. How strange. Maybe one’s taste will change with time? I learnt that many ex-classmates are furthering their studies; either full-time or part-time Masters. Many are on scholarship with bonds too. The funny thing is that many of those furthering their studies are the kind of classmates you thought they would give up studying once they get their Bachelors! Hee...

Yesterday after work in the evening, I rushed down to the bank to do some admin work before proceeding to meet a clergyman from my church. We had a chat but I was kinda disappointed because he could not address many of my theological doubts. One shocking thing I learnt was that a particular independent church actually administered the communion wafers to their sick and sold those “consecrated bread” off the shelves! It is nothing less than heresy and blasphemy at the highest level! Anyway, after that meet-up with that clergyman, I watched some live-band performance at the Esplanade before meeting up with an ex-colleague who wanted to video me giving some well-wishes for an upcoming marriage. We met at the Watsons outlet in Raffles City and I saw a familiar locum there. Haha... she is probably much older than my parents but kept calling me her "heart-throb" during my Watsons' days. It was really nice catching up with her for that short 20 minutes. I did the video but there were some hiccups in the video. Nonetheless, I did that video shoot in just one take! ;-) No script, nothing... just right from the mind in a split second, haha... A re-shoot seemed unnecessary and I thought a spontaneous one is always better and more sincere, right? ;-) Had dinner together with my ex-colleague at Glutton Bay. Amazingly, it was the first time I ate there and the food wasn’t as dear as I thought it would be. It was breezy and how I miss those carefree younger days.

Oh yes! I got my letter of confirmation as my 6-month work probation ended. I can’t wait to turn my attention now to other aspects of my life with less divided attention and a mission to accomplish! ;-) Geedeeupppppp! Haha...

God Bless,

Andrew
