Super Random
Dear Diary,
It is pretty late now and I am just going to add a super random entry. The past week had been pretty eventful with even an al fresco “Company Dinner & Dance” party at the Keppel Club on Friday evening. The food wasn't good but the host was okay I guess. Then I actually attended the Global Crossroad international service yesterday evening which had the "My Hope Singapore" video shown. I meant... in life, there are just too many things we do or programmes that preoccupy us. I could talk about how I was so excited when the brother-sister team of Nick and Starr Spangler won that 13th "Amazing Race" instalment or other stuffs in this entry... but when I sat in church this morning and saw that 3 out of the 4 Advent candles were lighted up, I was reminded of how Christmas is just round the corner and I barely took notice of it! At least, not noticing the real meaning behind it.
Since I left the church service today, a song kept ringing in my head although I did not sing it for a long time. I hummed and sang it pretty much throughout the day, even when I was running in the evening....
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Give me oil in my lamp, I pray
Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning
Keep me burning 'til the break of day
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the King of Kings
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna
Sing hosanna to the King of Kings
Just watched “Superman Returns” on TV earlier and it is true that everyone secretly wants a Saviour around. While Superman saves individuals in that make-believe movie, our Lord Jesus who is the reason for Christmas, saves our souls in reality. I am reminded, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36). Thank God for His mercy and love upon me.
I really hope you will know the true reason for Christmas as I know it. It is definitely more than the turkey and merry-making... it is a hope for the world for eternity! Oh, how I love the Nativity scene where the infant Jesus lies in his crib, so humble yet such a powerful statement of God’s love for us.
God Bless,
Andrew
PS: I am involved in the Celebrate Christmas in Singapore (CCIS) event in Orchard Road, so don’t be too shocked if Saint Joseph or one of the three wise men call out your name! Haha... I don’t think I will be considered for the role of the Virgin Mary though! ;-P Then again, I could be doing other roles... first aid, logistics, security etc...? We will see... Take care! ;-)
